Meet Inspire Woodworks

Family-crafted. Functionally beautiful. Made with intention.

Inspire Woodworks is a family-owned business run by husband-and-wife duo Danny and Tina Garner, based in Northern California. Together they create one-of-a-kind pieces — fractal burned, ocean-inspired, or celebrating the natural beauty of the wood itself. Every piece seamlessly matches function with beauty, from live edge furniture and bar tops to charcuterie boards and tasting boards. If you can dream it, we can build it. Ask us!

How It All Started

Inspire Woodworks was born out of a moment that felt terrifying at the time. Danny had always dreamed of starting his own business and had fallen in love with the art of fractal burning and woodworking — but life kept getting in the way. When he was laid off from a job that had been keeping him away from home and his family, it felt like the ground shifted beneath them. Scary? Absolutely. But looking back, Danny and Tina will tell you it was the best thing that ever happened.

That unexpected turning point became the push they needed. With a passion for creating and a drive to build something meaningful together, Inspire Woodworks was born — and it hasn't slowed down since.

How We Work

We take our craft seriously from the very first step. We source much of our own wood directly — operating our own sawmill and working with trusted local sawmills and wood suppliers to find pieces with character, grain, and soul. Our woodshop is right at home (the commute is unbeatable), which means we're hands-on with every single project from start to finish.

Almost everything we make is finished by hand. That's not just a tagline — it's a reflection of our meticulous nature and our commitment to getting every detail right. We don't cut corners because our customers deserve a piece that's truly perfect, not just good enough.

Who We Are

We're not a big studio or a production shop — we're Danny and Tina, working side by side, pouring care into every piece we make. One of the things we love most about what we do is the relationships we build along the way. When someone commissions a custom piece, it's personal. We get to know you, understand your vision, and often walk away with a new friend. That's not an accident — it's just who we are.

If you've ever seen us at an art show, you know we love to talk. And if you haven't met us yet, we hope you will soon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take custom orders?

Absolutely! Custom work is one of our specialties. Reach out with your idea — dimensions, wood type, finish preference — and we'll work with you to bring your vision to life.

How long does a custom piece take?

It depends on the complexity and our current queue, but most custom orders take 4–8 weeks. We'll give you a timeline estimate when you reach out.

What types of wood do you use?

We work with a variety of hardwoods including walnut, maple, cherry, and live edge slabs. Each piece of wood is unique, so grain and color will vary naturally.

What is fractal burning?

Fractal burning (also called Lichtenberg figures) is a technique that uses high-voltage electricity to create stunning, lightning-like patterns in the wood. It's one of our signature finishes.

Do you ship your pieces?

Yes! We ship across the U.S. Larger furniture pieces may require freight shipping — we'll discuss the best option with you at the time of order.

Can I visit your workshop?

We'd love that! We're home-based in Northern California and welcome visits by appointment. Just give us a call or text to set up a time.

Do you sell at local events?

Yes — we regularly attend art shows and festivals throughout the western U.S. Check our events calendar on this page to find us near you.

How do I care for my charcuterie board or wood piece?

Hand wash only — never submerge in water or put in the dishwasher. Re-oil periodically with food-safe mineral oil or board cream to keep it looking beautiful for years.
